Kader’s Story October 13th, 2005
I have memorized a lot of verses from your lessons. I feel hungry for them. I like how Jesus said to love your enemy and how when you fast not to show that you’re doing it. I tell you in complete secrecy that I love Jesus.
Each Thursday during our daily prayer time we receive slips with names and the contact history of students currently taking Bible Correspondence Courses (BCC). A few months ago Bob Ehmann, director of Malaga Media Center (MMC), received the slip of Kader, the student quoted above. The BCC staff included the above excerpt of his writing as well as his prayer:
Jesus, I am a sinner. I would like to spend what is left of my years of life asking for your forgiveness and that you would consider me your son. I will open my heart and accept you as my Savior and Lord of my life, Amen.
Bob got excited and held onto Kader’s slip when we were done praying. This is just one of hundreds of contacts that our BCC staff interacts with, but he wanted to follow this particular man as our contacts met with him during summer follow-up visits. Kader’s name sat on Bob’s desk all summer.
As the reports from summer follow-up came in, Bob heard back about Kader. Our contact in North Africa, Mustafa, went to visit him and found he was already a believer and looking for another national believer with whom he could interact. This opened the door for regular contact between Mustafa and Kader. They will be meeting twice a month until the end of this year. If these meetings show true spiritual interest, Mustafa will most likely introduce Kader to a church family where he can worship.
What makes this so exciting is that God has provided a network of Christians in North Africa which allows people like Mustafa to be available locally for personal visits and discipleship. This network continues to grow as the burden for reaching their own people increases.
We are excited about stories like Kader’s. We’re seeing the time between of seekers first making contact with MMC to accepting Christ shorten considerably. Kader first heard the Gospel over our radio programs and contacted us in February of 2005, took several Bible courses through the mail, made a commitment to follow Christ and is now connected to Mustafa who is discipling him as the year finishes out.
Join Bob in praise as we see God continuing to build his Church in North Africa!
